Margaret Johnson-Ayres calls her work "a labor of love". She became enamored of the art of jewelry design when she took her first course in 1974, on a lark. As she developed her skills, and gave away many of her early designs to her admirers, she realized her greatest rewards were the looks in these recipients' eyes as they first caught sight of a piece designed just for them.

Margaret begins the creative process of designing a piece of jewelry by discovering who the wearer-to-be is. She will ask each wearer to describe his or her lifestyle, values, manner of wearing the jewelry, the type of clothing to be worn with the piece and so on. Only then can she create a piece unique to that individual, expressing his or her essential nature. She wants wearers to fall in love with these articles of beauty, and fall in love again with the givers each time they view the item.

Margaret has been winning awards for her beautiful works of art since 1993.
